The Land

Sowing seeds of sovereignty, teaching sustainability, holistically healing community, while reclaiming our connection to Mother Earth.

Rustic Roots Sanctuary envisions a world where every community is nourished body, mind, and spirit through equitable access to fresh, locally grown food, regenerative land stewardship, and holistic healing. From our sustainable micro-hub in Spanish Lake, we cultivate a model that mentors and empowers growers, expands food access, and heals trauma through deep connection with nature; restoring balance to people, communities, and the planet.

Conceptualized in 2020 as a 6.64-acre nonprofit farm, Rustic has since evolved into a sacred 16-acre space that fosters youth leadership in agriculture, sponsors a senior and young families produce program, as well as hosting the Spanish Lake Farmer’s Market alongside a plethora of holistically restorative events. Driven by purpose and intention, the team is creating a healing space in Spanish Lake that supports the community by way of holistic healing through sustainable access to healthy, fresh, organically grown food. With plans to expand our micro food hub, we look forward to opening The Fresh Picked Farm Stop, a small store and much-needed community asset by 2027.

The Work We’ve Done

  • Praxis Project - Roots to Remedies Convention

    Increased fresh food access for over 18,000 community members, including 2,300 seniors through the Spanish Lake Farmer’s Market.

    Hosted more than 100 community events, educational programs, and wellness retreats.

Healing For The People & The Planet

  • At Rustic Roots Sanctuary, we offer events, classes, and experiences designed to support holistic healing—balancing the mind, body, and spirit. We welcome teachers and modalities from a wide array of backgrounds and traditions; sharing practices such as meditation, sound baths, yoga, healing circles, and mindfulness. Our goal is to create inclusive, nurturing spaces where all can explore their path to wellness.

  • We honor the Earth as sacred and teach sustainable living rooted in joy, respect, and responsibility. Through hands-on learning and ancestral land stewardship, we encourage community members to become thoughtful, empowered caretakers of the land.

  • Rustic Roots Sanctuary acknowledges the deep and ongoing harms experienced by Indigenous communities, people of African descent, and other BIPOC identifying demographics. We advocate for sovereignty and healing by fostering physical, spiritual, and psychological well-being. We honor and uplift ancestral wisdom, believing it holds vital guidance for the challenges of our time.

  • We strive to be a sanctuary where people from all spiritual, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds feel seen, safe, and valued. Our programming is intentionally diverse and inclusive, offering space for authentic connection, mutual support, and collective enrichment.

  • Our commitment to service is grounded in care for both people and the land we inhabit. We provide healthy food access, herbal remedies, and nutritional healing to our community. We also support our elders with regular food deliveries, host a weekly farmer’s market, and partner with eco-conscious businesses and wellness practitioners. Whether through our farm work or spiritual offerings, we respond with love to the needs of our community and the planet.
