Rustic Roots Sanctuary welcomes volunteers who want to help nourish roots, encourage shoots, and share the fruits of our labor!

Our Volunteer Program is hands-on, community-minded, and flexible enough for beginners and experienced hands alike. Volunteers contribute to meaningful seasonal work while learning practical skills in organic farming, food preservation, and sustainable agriculture.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • People who are reliable, physically able to work outdoors, and comfortable working as part of a small team.

  • Those curious about regenerative agriculture, soil health, seed sowing, animal care, and seasonal food systems.

  • Volunteers who respect farm safety, follow direction, and bring a positive, cooperative attitude.

Typical Tasks

  • Field work: planting, weeding, transplanting, mulching, harvesting, pruning, and preparing beds. Work varies with the season and often includes light construction or maintenance projects, irrigation care, and compost management.

  • Kitchen duties: washing, cutting, and prepping produce; assisting with food preservation (canning, fermenting, drying); meal prep and cleanup for event meals; keeping the kitchen organized and sanitary. Kitchen shifts help volunteers learn simple farm-to-table practices while supporting daily life on the farm.

What We Provide

  • Practical, hands-on training and mentorship.

  • A chance to participate in the full cycle from soil to plate.

  • A supportive community and the satisfaction of contributing to our nonprofit’s seasonal offerings

Commitment and Schedule

  • Flexible options: day shifts, weekend markets, or short multi-day projects. Some programs may request a minimum shift length or number of days, depending on work and the season.

  • Typical shifts last 4–6 hours; physically demanding tasks can be adjusted when needed.

How To Join

  • Please fill out the form provided and tell us about your experience, availability, any physical limitations, and dietary or food-safety concerns. We’ll match you to work that fits your interests/abilities and provide an orientation before you begin.

Volunteering at Rustic Roots Sanctuary is collaborative work that connects you to the land and the people who tend it. We accept those from all walks of life and we appreciate you for offering your time. Whether you’re digging in the dirt or helping turn harvest into meals, your contributions help sustain the farm’s mission and our impact in the community.
